Knocks on the door.

“Who is it?” Joy’s voice carried as she approached the door. She looked through the hole and saw a sweaty maintenance man. She opened the door. “Hey there. Are you here to fix the tub?”

“Ah, no, mam ... However, I can!” The man then shook his head out of the awkward confusion. “Sorry, I’m Jack,” Jack greeted with a smile and extended two hands to shake her one.

“Nice to meet you Jack, is there anything I can help you with,” she politely inquired as her eyes gravitated to his white work truck parked on the side of the street.

“Sure, basically I’m basically new in town. My office is not far from here. I’m here to help you with any maintenance problems you may have. From the sound of it, the universe brought your solution right to your doorstep.”

“Uh-huh, I see…” Joy mumbled, peeking towards the street past Jack as if she was paranoid.  “I hope you’re better than the last few. I like my things fixed the first time. Hmm … what all can you do?”

“You name it, I got it,” Jack responded with the most assuring grin. He gestured towards the yard, “Even the grass! Best of all, we’re open twenty-four-seven as long as your neighbors approve! For starters, check out my prices!” He began to pull his card out. “You’ll find them among the fairest in town and-”

“Tell you what,” Joy interrupted, snatching his card, “be here bright and early in the morning, and let’s see how squeaky-clean you can wash my beamer. We’ll talk more afterward. Bye.” She shut the door.

“Uh, thank you!” Jack gestured with his hammer fist. A huge smile wiped across his face. He grinned at the car.
